Message From the Chair
Welcome to Columbia Dermatology, where our mission is to deliver state-of-the-art, compassionate, and equitable care while developing the medical and scientific breakthroughs of the future. The culture of learning and innovation that is borne out of being part of a world-class research university creates an imperative for our faculty to be on the cutting edge of medicine and science, leading to the best outcomes for our patients.
We are proud to have trained renowned physicians and scientists in dermatology, including leaders within academic, industry, and medical and scientific organizations worldwide. Over the past century, Columbia Dermatology faculty have made transformative discoveries to improve human health, including pioneering work in the use of ionizing radiation, the treatment of syphilis, the use of corticosteroids to treat pemphigus vulgaris, and the fundamental science leading to the development of the antifungal agent nystatin. Photopheresis for cutaneous T cell lymphoma and the use of Janus kinase inhibitors for alopecia areata were invented in our department. Currently, our faculty are internationally recognized for their work to advance novel precision medicine, tissue engineering, and diagnostic approaches for a broad range of human diseases, including skin cancer, autoimmunity, skin wounds, and more.
Thank you for your interest in Columbia Dermatology. We look forward to your visit.
