Pediatric Dermatology Focus for Pediatricians

NYP-Columbia is pleased to offer a Dermatology Residency Track with Pediatric Dermatology Focus for pediatricians. This track is a 3-year dermatology residency program with a pediatric dermatology focus, designed for applicants who will have completed general pediatrics training at the time of appointment. The track leads to board certification in general dermatology. Subsequent completion of a 1-year pediatric dermatology fellowship is anticipated for candidates and required for pediatric dermatology board certification.

Applicant Eligibility

  • Meet general eligibility requirements outlined in our main dermatology training track.
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited General Pediatrics residency program with Pediatric Board certification/eligibility at time of appointment.
    • Applicants in the 2025-2026 ERAS/NRMP cycle will begin dermatology residency on July 1, 2027. Therefore, applicants must be a PGY-2 or higher at the time of application submission.
  • For the 2025-2026 cycle, applicants need not utilize an ERAS signal to apply to this track
  • Applications must be submitted by October 10, 2025.

Track Details

  • 36-month training program in all required general dermatology core areas (medical dermatology, dermatopathology, dermatologic surgery, and pediatric dermatology) to meet all training and ACGME requirements in general dermatology. 
  • As a dermatology resident at NYP-Columbia, you have the following experiences in Pediatric Dermatology
    • Pediatric Dermatology continuity clinic
    • Dedicated annual “Pediatric Dermatology” rotation with exposure to inpatient consults at the Children’s Hospital of NY- Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital, outpatient pediatric care, pediatric procedural experience, and interdisciplinary pediatric specialty clinics
  • Residents in the Dermatology/Pediatric Focus track at NYP-Columbia will have additional opportunities to enhance exposure to pediatric dermatology during their residency through the following enhancements of rotational experiences:
    • Mentorship from faculty in the Division of Pediatric Dermatology.
    • Ambulatory pediatric dermatology exposure during yearly “Faculty Practice” rotation
    • Elective experiences in Pediatric Dermatology and related disciplines
    • Opportunities to complete scholarly activity (research and/or a QI project) in pediatric dermatology
